Dr. Drew Palmer was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida. He attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate education where he graduated cum laude with a major in Biochemistry. He stayed at the University of Florida for medical school where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated cum laude with Research Honors. He completed his internship and Urology residency in New England at the Lahey Clinic. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Robotic Surgery and Laparoscopy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is one of the few urologists in Tampa who is fellowship trained in robotic surgery.
His areas of interest include robotic and minimally invasive urologic surgery specifically surgery for prostate cancer, kidney cancer, enlarged prostate (BPH), and blockages of the ureter (ureteral strictures and UPJ obstruction). He is well-versed in the da Vinci Xi and Si surgical systems. Dr. Palmer has authored several book chapters on anatomy in the premier urologic textbook. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications in distinguished urology journals.
