Mark B. Baker M.D.

Dr. Mark B. Baker was raised in Springdale, Arkansas and graduated high school there in 1992. In 1996, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College (Conway, Arkansas), which he attended on academic scholarship, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in History. Dr. Baker received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2000, and by graduating within the top 10% of his class, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. From 2000 to 2005, he finished a general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of South Florida.
Dr. Baker has been in private practice in Eastern Hillsborough County since August of 2005. He currently has operative privileges at Brandon Regional Hospital, South Bay Hospital, Tampa General Hospital, South Florida Baptist Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Hospital – South.
Dr. Baker maintains Board certification in Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the Southeastern Section of the AUA, the American Society for Clinical Urologists, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American Urogynecologic Society.
In addition to caring for all aspects of general urology, Dr. Baker has developed a focus and expertise in the management of certain urologic conditions and specialties. These include the following:

Dr. Baker has performed a large number of robotic and laparoscopic surgeries. This volume and experience with a diversity of procedures makes him a local leader in this field. These surgeries include:

Female Urologic Reconstruction and Pelvic Health:
Due to the FDA concerns about mesh for vaginal prolapse, the surgery for these conditions has greatly evolved. Dr. Baker is aware of these concerns and is committed to a detailed evaluation and counseling with regard to the management options available. Dr. Baker has extensive experience with the treatment of these following conditions:

Male/Female Voiding Dysfunction:
A conservative and systematic approach is key to the evaluation and management of Voiding Dysfunction. Dr. Baker often incorporates behavioral/dietary modifications and physical therapy as first line treatment. Refractory cases to conservative therapy may be candidates for surgical intervention.
